National Award-winning director Sumitra Bhave dies, Marathi cinema has given excellent films

Famous Marathi Writer and Director Sumitra Bhave Died on Monday 19 April 2021 in Pune. She was 78 years old. Sumitra had made many famous films like Kasava, Samhita, Astu, Welcome Home, Vastupurusha, Devarai and Dahavi Fa. Sumitra Bhave and her assistant Sunil Sukthankar have received many accolades for their outstanding work in Marathi cinema. In Sumitra’s films, the issue of discrimination with mental patients was raised.

Sumitra and Sunil’s film Kasav was also awarded Swarna Kamal at the National Award. Sumitra Bhave also lent her voice as narrator in Chaitanya Tamhane’s upcoming film The Decal. The film is being produced by Alphonso Curron, director of the famous Hollywood film Gravity.
