Officials said that the government is in a mood to ban the Chinese company keeping in mind the security concerns and the desire of Indian manufacturers to make more telecom equipment. Two officials of the Department of Telecommunications, on the condition of anonymity, said that after June 15, the mobile carrier company will be able to buy certain fixed equipment only from the companies approved by the government. Not only this, the government can also issue a list of companies from which equipment is not to be purchased. Huawei is also likely to be included in this list.

These allegations have been leveled against Chinese companies

According to officials, the government believes that investments that pose a risk to national security should be banned and in view of this, preparations are being made to take strict measures against Chinese companies. At the same time, another official told the news agency Reuters that Chinese company ZTE Corp (ZTE Corp) can also be banned. Although it has a small presence in India. Both companies have been accused of spying for the Chinese government.

Airtel and Vodafone use

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea use Huawei gear. At the same time, analysts say that there will be a possibility of cost escalation due to the ban on Huawei gear. He said that Chinese firm’s equipment and network maintenance contracts are generally cheaper than European competitors such as Ericsson and Nokia. A senior government official said, “We have started giving some approval to investment proposals from China as well, but we will not give any approval in areas like Telecom Infrastructure and Financial”. He also said that the government is not in the mood to lift last year’s ban on more than 100 Chinese mobile apps or allow Chinese companies to work in state-run firms like Air India and Bharat Petroleum.
